The Lawyers Collective calls upon the public not to be misled by the shameless, malicious and false propaganda of the State Media on the Impeachment of Chief Justice.
There are constant false and insulting contents in the Lake House newspapers and broadcasts over SLBC, ITN and Rupavahini Corporation, all of which are being used as propaganda units of the Government. The Chief Justice, the Judiciary and the lawyers who have fearlessly come forward to protect the independence of the Judiciary have often been targeted by these vicious attacks.
The contents of these publications and broadcasts are defamatory and contemptuous and obviously intended to mislead the public. This is a calculated move to intimidate the Chief Justice, the Judiciary and the lawyers who have declined to bow down to pressure. We assure the public that there is no division among all independent lawyers on the Impeachment , though the state propaganda machinery makes all efforts to damage the solidarity and unity among the lawyers.
