SRI LANKA: A recording of a group discussion on ways to deal with the challenges to system change caused by a bad constitution

 The Asian Human Rights Commission wishes to share with you the following video produced by LEADS YouTube Channel.

 It is a recording of a conversation among a group of persons interested in pursuing system change in Sri Lanka. Presenter Mr. Basil Fernando provides an initial outline of the problems caused by the existing constitution of Sri Lanka to maintain a system of justice within the framework of the rule of law. During this discussion, many interesting questions came up on ethics, law, malfunctioning of institutions such as the criminal investigation system in Sri Lanka, and also the prosecutor’s office functioning under the Attorney General’s department. The recording provides many insights into the problems faced within Sri Lanka for democracy, rule of law, and promotion of the role of the civil society relating to system change.
