After much anticipation, the day we have been waiting for has finally arrived! The Asian Human Rights Commission is very pleased to present to you “Case Cracked”, the very first video of our brand new satire program RULE O’FLAW.
The video, now available on our dedicated RULE O’FLAW Facebook page, depicts the life cycle of a case that makes its way through an Asian justice system.
The case assembly line is greased by bribery every step of the way. Torture is an overwhelming presence, especially for those on the wrong side of power divides. Graft and politics can slow the course or speed it up as need be. Omnipresent is the passage of ruinous amounts of time, wasting lives and ensuring that justice is only an exception in this system.
Using the characters of investigating officer, public prosecutor, and judge, “Case Cracked” explores the reality that so many Asian justice systems are punishment by themselves. Anyone unfortunate enough to get directly involved will lose dignity and humanity one way or another. And, that is why, to protect human rights and uphold human dignity, we cannot look to these institutions, unless we re-engineer and transform them.
Let us make a choice to wake up and transform our institutions.
