This week, JUST ASIAhighlights activities conducted by AHRC and it’s partners in the region to mark Human Rights Day, December 10.
In Sri Lanka, German Ambassador Dr.JurganMorgardspoke to survivors in Kandy, and in Nepal, AHRC’s Dr.RajatMitra conducteda workshop on Violence and Human Rights.
Indonesian human rights defenders marked the Day by gathering in front of Presidential Palace in Jakarta, while Human Rights defenders were denied permission to congregate publicly in Burma.
AHRC’s Director for Policy and Programmes, Basil Fernando, was in Denmark and spoke to a large audience in Copenhagen on this Day.JUST ASIA features excerpts of his speech.
Finally,JUSTASIA reports onthe UK Ambassador to Beijing’s bizarre praiseof China’s “progress” on Human Rights Day, whilst freedoms and rights dramatically deteriorated in the nation in 2015.
